Magnetic Tweezers

 

A custom built 8-pole magnetic tweezers device capable of full 3D particle control, at forces up to 100 pN in X and Y, and around 10 pN in Z. This is based around an Olympus IX71 CCD inverted optical microscope, with particle tracking to detect particle motion which is under programmable feedback control.  Samples are held in a glass capillary.
